Candida infections, particularly those caused by Candida albicans and Candida glabrata, pose significant health challenges. In light of rising antifungal resistance, especially to drugs like fluconazole, there is an urgent need for alternative and complementary treatments.
Our recent study aimed to assess the efficacy of the herbal formulation CanXida Remove in inhibiting the growth of these Candida strains, comparing its performance with the standard antifungal drug Nystatin.
Materials and Methods
The study employed the disc diffusion technique to evaluate the antifungal activity of CanXida Remove. Candida albicans (BNCC 337759) and Candida glabrata (BNCC 337348) were cultured on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA). The Mueller-Hinton agar was prepared and sterilized, and small wells were created to inject different concentrations of CanXida Remove (200 mg/ml, 400 mg/ml, and 1000 mg/ml). Nystatin was used as the standard drug at a concentration of 100 units/ml. The plates were incubated at 37°C for 48 hours, and the zones of inhibition (ZOI) were measured to determine antifungal activity.
Results
The results revealed that CanXida Remove exhibited significant antifungal activity, particularly at the highest concentration tested (1000 mg/ml):
- CanXida Remove (1000 mg/ml):
- Candida albicans: ZOI of 5 mm
- Candida glabrata: ZOI of 6 mm
- Nystatin (100 units/ml):
- Candida albicans: ZOI of 19 mm
- Candida glabrata: ZOI of 21 mm
While Nystatin demonstrated superior inhibition zones, CanXida Remove still showed notable efficacy, especially against C. glabrata.
Discussion
The findings suggest that CanXida Remove can inhibit the growth of both C. albicans and C. glabrata, offering a potential alternative or complementary treatment to conventional antifungal drugs.
We conclude that CanXida Remove is effective against Candida strains. Given the rising resistance to fluconazole, the incorporation of herbal formulations like CanXida Remove could play a crucial role in antifungal therapy.
Combining herbal formulations with standard antifungal drugs could reduce the required dosages of these drugs, thereby minimizing potential side effects and the development of resistance. For instance, integrating CanXida Remove with Nystatin may allow for a reduction in the standard drug dosage from 500 mg/day to 250 mg/day, enhancing treatment efficacy while reducing drug burden.
In conclusion, CanXida Remove presents a promising herbal alternative for managing Candida infections, and its integration with conventional antifungal therapies could be beneficial in combating drug resistance and enhancing patient outcomes.
Dr. Blake’s Perspective
What Antifungal Approach Is Right For Me?
When choosing an antifungal approach to address candida overgrowth, there is a lot more to consider than how powerful an agent looks in a lab petri dish. These kinds of experiments are helpful but only provide one measure of effectiveness. I’m going to share with you the grounded and holistic way I think about this topic as a naturopathic physician with 12 years of clinical experience.
Using Nystatin On Its Own
From a pharmaceutical perspective, Nystatin is a nice first choice for candida issues. This medication is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, which means you don’t get systemic side effects, like liver toxicity, that you might with other pharmaceutical antifungals.
Pharma drugs for infections have a couple of glaring problems, however. Drug resistance and lack of holistic synergy.
Development of Drug Resistance
I want you to imagine a scenario to illustrate this point. Pretend that you are playing a game with a group of friends. This game is similar to tag, except instead of chasing you and touching you with their hands to tag you, they instead need to “touch” you with something else. This can be any object. If they hit you with the object, you lose. On your side, you’ve got a box full of tools to help fend off these objects.
Your first friend starts throwing tennis balls at you. Luckily you’ve got a tennis racket right there. Hitting the balls away is easy and requires little effort.
Your next friend then starts squirting a water gun at you. Clearly the tennis racket won’t work here, so you use a shield from a child’s halloween costume that’s in the box – smart. This requires a bit more effort and focus, but it’s still manageable.
Another friend, who is quite clever, notices your boots have large metal rivets. She decides to roll magnets on the ground and get them close enough to stick to the rivets on your boots.
You are so busy with the balls and the water gun, you can’t get to anything else metal in the box fast enough to divert the magnets. The magnets stick to your boots and your third friend wins.
What does this have to do with candida and Nystatin?
Nystatin is the tennis balls and you are candida. Once you knew what was coming at you, you quickly found a suitable tool to defend yourself. That friend could have thrown those tennis balls all day and you would have batted each one away. Candida are very adaptable organisms. If they just get Nystatin thrown at them all day, all they need to do is figure out one way to evade it and now you’ve got candida with resistance to Nystatin.
Importantly, multi-drug resistant candida strains are increasing globally.
However, if you start adding in other antifungal agents, such as CanXida Formula Remove, it becomes increasingly difficult for candida to figure out how to deal with the onslaught of different substances, acting by different mechanisms. Just like the playful example above.
In fact, CanXida Formula Remove has a number of antifungal and antimicrobial substances in it, making resistance less likely when using this supplement on its own.
Holistic Protocols Increase Antifungal Effectiveness
At first glance, you might think that CanXida Formula Remove is inferior to Nystatin based on these results. In fact, these results are what I would predict and it is one reason I like herbal medicine so much. Plants and their extracts tend to act more gently.
This typically means less side effects. When you stack multiple herbs together in a professionally developed formula, you get many milder ingredients providing synergistic effects, for greater total efficacy.
In naturopathic medicine, we also don’t use one approach on its own. This is why I’ve created CanXida’s Holistic 3-phase Clinical Protocol.
CanXida Formula Remove is just one component of a protocol that enlists the synergistic support of enzymes, probiotics, and immune boosting nutrients, along with diet and lifestyle strategies.
It’s recommended that each of these points be considered when choosing the best health building strategy for you.

Our comments
While the study shows that Nystatin exhibits a more potent antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Candida glabrata compared to CanXida Remove, it is important to consider the unique benefits of CanXida Remove. CanXida Remove is a natural herbal formula made entirely from natural herbs, offering an alternative to synthetic pharmaceutical treatments. One of the key advantages of CanXida Remove is its lack of side effects, making it a safer option for long-term use and for individuals with sensitive systems or those who prefer natural remedies.
Despite its slightly lower efficacy in terms of inhibition zones, CanXida Remove’s significance lies in its natural composition and holistic approach to health. It does not introduce the potential risks associated with pharmaceutical antifungals, such as adverse reactions or the development of resistance. Additionally, CanXida Remove’s effectiveness, particularly at higher concentrations, demonstrates that it can still play a valuable role in managing Candida infections, especially when used as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy.
The significance of CanXida Remove lies in its ability to provide a natural, side-effect-free option for those looking to manage Candida infections without relying solely on pharmaceutical drugs. Its use in combination with standard treatments could potentially lower the required dosage of pharmaceutical antifungals, reducing their side effects and enhancing overall treatment efficacy. Therefore, CanXida Remove stands out as a noteworthy option in the landscape of antifungal treatments, offering a natural and holistic approach to combating Candida infections.
